Murray began his working career as a sportfishing guide at the age of 16 working for various lodges and resorts before going on to start his own charter business. Following back-to-back wins in the World Salmon Guide Tournament (1991/1992) Murray was hired to lead the local tourism authority as their managing director. During his tenure Campbell River was recognized as a leader in innovation and marketing and received numerous national awards while also fulfilling duties on various regional and provincial marketing boards.
Deciding it was time for a new challenge in 2000 he enrolled in the Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Professional Planning Course (PFC) and Life Insurance Agent Course (LLQP) completing all with honours. He then joined a multi-national, IIROC (Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada) firm building a diverse base of clientele over 7 years before leaving to join Deluca Veale Investment Counsel as an account manager with a focus on the high net worth investor. Missing the challenge of having his own office he opened Callaghan Wealth Management in his hometown in 2010.
When not if the office Murray can often be found biking singletrack trails or deep in the backcountry as an avid hiker and backcountry enthusiast. Together with his wife Celina he believes that their greatest achievement is raising two responsible and self-sustaining adults.
